The Name of the Society is the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. The Society shall be registered in the State of Illinois, United States of America, as an official organization accountable for its financial, legal and professional affairs.
The purposes of the Society, in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code, are:

To promote professional communication among and within professional disciplines in the broad field of clinical nutrition including parenteral and enteral nutrition, through national and regional meetings, local seminars, scientific, clinical and educational exhibits and publications;

To promote proper application of clinical and research experience to the practice of nutritionally sound medicine;

To encourage professional competence of practitioners and investigators in the field of clinical nutrition, including parenteral and enteral nutrition, and the improvement of patient care through specific postgraduate and continuing education programs;

To represent the needs of professionals and the patients they serve before government and regulatory agencies, professional societies, and the public
